Blog of Collective Intelligence

What is Collective Intelligence?

CI means many things to many people. Here, it refers to the capacity of human communities to evolve towards higher order complexity and integration through collaboration and innovation. This blog wants to be an embodiment of what it is about. If you care, subscribe and contribute.

Cultivating collective wisdom

I believe the confluence of academic research, business innovation, smart social movements, and viral collaboration technologies, is a potent booster for collective intelligence. It would be interesting to find a way to test that hypothesis. Shouldn't we measure the evolution of collective intelligence, with advancement in the eradication of all forms of unnecessary human suffering?

In terms of social network theory, the four drivers of the evolutionary trend of "intelligence increase"--academic research, business innovation, smart social movements, and viral collaboration technologies--define a 4-sided structural hole. Connectors from each side will be needed to weave their links of mutual learning into new tapestries of meaning. If so, it will happen; it may already occur to a larger extent than I know. What an exciting scene, certainly worth to follow what's happening...

The eventual emergence of a higher level of collective intelligence can be understood only from the perspective of "collective wisdom." So, I should open a "collective wisdom" category of blog entries, and a conversation with:

• the "Centered on the Edge" project of Fetzer Institute,
which probes the conditions for awakening into collective wisdom
and
• the collaborative approaches catalogued by Co-Intelligence Institute.

I agree. If you look at www.tipuake.org.nz you will see thew results of exactly that convergence.

Tipu Ake ki te Ora is a new (or is it old) organic leadership model and tools for organisations (of any shape and form) wishing to grow and deploy its collective wisdom for a well future.
